850kg cracker seized after raid, 2 nabbed
New Delhi: In a major crackdown on the illegal firecracker trade, Delhi Police's crime branch conducted a surprise raid at a godown in Baprola village on Friday. This led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of banned firecrackers and the subsequent detention of two individuals. The cops recovered several boxes filled with firecrackers, which weighed over 850 kilograms.
The individual who took godown on rent and the supplier were questioned for possessing and selling illegal firecrackers.

"Both the individuals were found to be operating without the necessary licences. The supplier told us that he used to bring firecrackers from Rohtak. A case under sections 288 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) and 9B of the Explosives Act has been registered," a police officer said.
Last month, a 21-year-old man was arrested for smuggling firecrackers. Police had subsequently seized 65 kilograms of firecrackers from Nihal Vihar in west Delhi. In Nov 2023, three people were arrested in connection with the seizure of 500 kilograms of firecrackers in the city.
