I write regarding the Mill River Greenway section in the article “Minor changes coming to Williamsburg zoning to comply with new accessory dwelling state laws” [Oct. 6]. I’d like to clarify that the neighborhood of South Main Street isn’t “against the project,” but objects to the Greenway committee’s particular designs, and that we’ve offered two alternative designs as compromises that the neighborhood fully supports.
Bicycles can travel the 700-foot piece of South Main Street that is in question quite safely with either of our plans (visit our website southmain01039.com for details). We keep waiting for a sincere demonstration of the MRG’s mission statement as stated on the town of Williamsburg’s website: “Focusing and encouraging local enthusiasm, input, and participation in the project … Respectfully working with local property owners … Encouraging, gathering, and further developing design concepts into a proposed Williamsburg-Haydenville Mill River Greenway Plan.”
We’re still waiting.
