Man arrested for sexually harassing minor girl in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A 46-year-old man was arrested on Friday for sexually harassing a six-year-old girl in a village near Karamadai here on September 30.
The arrested has been identified as P Badrasamy, 46, from a village near Karamadai. He is a daily wage labourer.
Police said a six-year-old girl, a Class I student at a panchayat union primary school was playing near her house, when Badrasamy, who was under the influence of alcohol, attempted to remove her clothes.

The girl started to cry loudly, and neighbours who heard her rushed to her help, while Badrasamy managed to escape.
When the girl's parents, who are also daily wage labourers, returned home around 8pm, locals appraised them about the incident. They then contacted the police control room, after which Tamizharasan, a police head Constable attached to the Karamadai Police Station, visited the house and held an inquiry with the girl and her parents.
They subsequently lodged a formal complaint with the police on October 2. Police registered a case against Badrasamy under a few sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. A special team which was formed to apprehend him, arrested him on Friday.
He was produced before a judicial magistrate and later, remanded in judicial custody.
