Appoint doctors to PHC, urges activist
Mangaluru: Abdul Rahiman, a social worker, recently submitted a memorandum to minister of health and family welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao. Rahiman requested the appointment of two permanent doctors at the Ishwaramangala Primary Health Centre (PHC) to ensure continuous medical services.
The health centre, which was built at a cost of Rs 1.8 crore, lacks permanent doctors.
The memorandum highlighted that the current doctors only provide services two days a week, and the staff lock the hospital by 4:30 pm and leave, depriving people of the area of essential medical services. As a result, people are forced to seek expensive medical examinations and treatments at private hospitals, Rahiman stated.
The Ishwaramangala PHC serves approximately 12,000 people from the villages of Nettanige Mudnooru, Padavannur, Badagannur, Madnooru, and Kolthige. Additionally, residents from the Kerala border villages of Delampady and Adhur also depend on this PHC. The memorandum emphasized the need for immediate action to address this issue and ensure that the local population has access to the necessary medical care.
