People left Uddhav over kickbacks: CM
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar/Pune: Chief minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday accused Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray of seeking kickbacks during his tenure as CM in MVA govt.
"Seeking a share in every thing was your sole interest. That eventually caused people to desert you," he said, referring to the rebellion within the undivided Shiv Sena when Shinde left Thackeray with a group of MLAs to form govt with BJP.
Meanwhile, hitting out at the CM for criticising Thackeray, former Aurangabad MP Chandrakant Khaire said Shinde and others left the party chief for personal gains.
"Shinde wanted to become the CM at any cost and, therefore, deserted Thackeray," he said.
Earlier on Saturday night, Shinde while speaking to the media after participating in the Tembhi Naka Navratri procession in Thane, said Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj would surely push him (Uddhav) off a cliff for deserting Hindutva in pursuit of power. The CM was reacting to Thackeray's Dussehra speech in which the UBT leader mentioned that his party would construct memorials in every district when they came to power.
