Man, nephew from Guj drown in Narmada river canal
Jodhpur: A 33-year-old man and his 22-year-old nephew, both residents of Gujarat, died after falling into the main canal of the Narmada river in Sanchore on Friday evening.
Police said the deceased, Jetabhai Patel and his nephew Kiran Patel, were on their way to visit a relative at Kilwa village when the incident happened at the border of Agar and Kilwa villages.
"On the way, Jetabhai went to drink water from the canal near Golasan. He slipped and fell into the canal. His nephew jumped into the canal to save him, but both drowned in the deep water," said SHO Hukmaram of Sanchore.
He said police were informed of the drowning at about 8pm on Friday. A police team and divers managed to retrieve the two men after about six hours of search in the canal. A postmortem was conducted. TNN
