Loco pilot saves lion pride
Rajkot: The alertness of a loco pilot saved an entire lion pride from being killed by a train, according to a statement from the Bhavnagar railway division. The statement said loco pilots Ashok Kumar and Gaurang Damor saw four lions on the track on the Damnagar-Liliya Mota section on Friday evening while they were driving the Surat-Mahuva Express. They applied the emergency brake and informed the forest guard.
The forest guard arrived and drove the lions away from the track, after which the train continued towards its destination. According to Bhavnagar railway division, 77 lions have been saved in the current financial year thanks to the alertness of loco pilots.
