Berhampur: Niranjan Pradhan, a former MLA from Polasara assembly constituency in Ganjam district and a prominent
BJP member, died on Thursday night at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar aged 65. According to family sources, he was receiving treatment for multiple ailments, including diabetes, high blood pressure and brain haemorrhage. Pradhan is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.
He was elected to the state assembly twice in 2004 and 2009 on a BJD ticket from Kodala and Polasara segments, respectively. Prior to his tenure as an MLA, he served as sarpanch, samiti member, and panchayat samiti chairman of Polasara block.
