Ahmedabad: Within 24 hours of a speeding driver claiming the life of a 29-year-old migrant worker on Jivraj Park flyover, police tracked down the vehicle involved in the hit and run, Authorities are expected to detain the vehicle late on Saturday.
On Friday night, Rajendra Pargi, a native of Banswada in Rajasthan, was crossing the flyover when an unidentified vehicle struck him and sped away.
The absence of CCTV footage had left investigators struggling for clues to identify the vehicle involved.
Investigating officer S A Gohil said, "We have identified the car responsible for the accident. Officers have been dispatched to apprehend the owner, but the accused appears to be on the run. However, we expect to take the car into custody by late night."
Pargi's cousin, Bhupnesh Pargi, who filed the complaint, shared that Rajendra had moved to Ahmedabad, leaving behind his wife and two children in their village, in search of a better future. Rajendra had been living in the Baldevnagar area of Vejalpur, he revealed.
In his complaint, Bhupnesh mentioned that he called Rajendra's mobile phone on Friday night, but an unknown person answered and informed him that Rajendra had met with an accident. When Bhupnesh rushed to the scene, he found Rajendra had breathed his last.
