Third accused in gang rape case arrested
Surat: Police arrested the third person accused in the Mota Borsara gang rape, Ramsajivan alias Raju Vishwakarma (31), from a train in Ahmedabad on Friday as he was attempting to flee to Rajasthan.
Police said Vishwakarma was not at Tadkeshwar when the other two accused were arrested on Wednesday but learned about the arrests.
Police had arrested Shivshankar Chaurasiya (45) and Munna Paswan (40) for raping a 17-year-old girl in a sugarcane field near Mota Borsara village on Tuesday night.

Chaurasiya died at New Civil Hospital after his health deteriorated in police custody on Thursday.
The investigation revealed that the trio separated after the crime and switched their phones off. After the two accused were arrested, Vishwakarma hid in a field for the night. On Thursday morning, he went to Ankleshwar by auto rickshaw. When he realized police were looking for him, he spent the day in a field. At night, he went to Bharuch railway station and took a train to Vadodara.
From Vadodara, he caught the Dadar Ajmer train. Police received information about his movements and a team boarded the train at Kalupur police station in Ahmedabad. They found the accused on the train during checking.
"Police were working in multiple directions and our team received information on the movement of the accused. He is a history-sheeter and has nine criminal cases against him at various police stations," said Hitesh Joysar, superintendent of police, Surat.
Vishwakarma came to Surat 15 days ago after getting bail in a theft case in Rajasthan. He has been found to be involved in nine criminal cases so far, in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
Regarding the custodial death of Chaurasiya, a judicial inquiry will be conducted according to procedure. "A case of accidental death has been registered by police. The investigation will be done by a judicial magistrate," said Prem Vir Singh, IGP, Surat range.
