Ranchi: A criminal involved in 51 cases related to
murder, attempt to murder, dacoity and loot in Ranchi district was arrested on Wednesday and sent to judicial custody on Thursday, police said.
Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha said, “Police received a tip-off that Rajiv Ranjan Singh is present at the Morabadi ground to commit crime. A raiding team surrounded him to make the arrest.”
A country-made pistol, six cartridges, and two mobile phones were seized from him, police said.
“Remorseless Rajiv has confessed his involvement in many cases. He has fired at people even for petty reasons and seems to be psycho killer,” the SSP added.
Rajiv is an accused in cases registered with Lower Bazaar, Doranda, Nagdi, Kotwali, Bariatu, Dhurwa, Ratu and Mandar police stations of the district.
“We will take Rajiv under remand to probe the crimes committed by him in other districts,” police said.
