New areas under AMC to get 2,000 CCTV cameras
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced plans to install 2,000 CCTV cameras in areas like Bopal, Ghuma and Kathwada among others, which have been newly incorporated within the city limits. AMC standing committee chairman Devang Dani stated, "A decision has been made to issue a tender for installing 2,000 CCTV cameras in the new areas of the city.

The cameras will be placed at busy junctions and on roads wider than 24m or 30m to enhance law enforcement, security and traffic regulation. All CCTV cameras will be connected to the command control centre."
Dani also mentioned, "With the expansion of new areas in Ahmedabad, there is an increase in commercial units, restaurants and food outlets. Therefore, a decision has been made to create new positions for food inspectors and proceed with their hirings. Currently, there are 16 food inspectors in AMC's health department. Nine of these will be promoted as senior food inspectors, and 51 new positions will be filled. Additionally, to reduce the use of single-use plastics in Ahmedabad, it has been decided to provide cloth bags to residents — one bag for every household. Moreover, VMD (variable message display) boards will be installed in various parts of the city to beam information on temperature and pollution levels. On Thursday, appointment letters were issued to candidates selected for 119 technical supervisor positions in AMC."
