Delhi roads to be free of potholes by Diwali, says CM
New Delhi: Chief minister Atishi on Friday announced that Delhi's roads will be made pothole-free by Diwali.
Atishi, who chaired a review meeting with officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation, stated that Mehrauli-Badarpur Road and Wazirabad Road under DMRC will be pothole-free within 10 days. The road between Nizamuddin bus stand and the railway station will be pothole-free by Oct 25.
In the meeting, Atishi said, "As a govt, our priority is to provide better roads for the people of Delhi.

All agencies are working on a war footing to achieve this vision and are improving the city's roads." She added, "During our inspection, we found that many roads in Delhi are in a dilapidated condition, causing traffic problems due to potholes."
Due to the ongoing construction of the metro's Golden Line, 6.4 km of this road was handed over to PWD. "The road was damaged at several points due to the construction and waterlogging during the rains. During the review meeting, DMRC officials reported that the repair work was completed on a large portion of the road, with work ongoing on another stretch that will be finished by Oct 20," the CMO said.
DMRC commenced the repair work on the section of Wazirabad Road from Gokalpuri to Wazirabad Bridge, which will be completed by Oct 15. Similarly, a section of the road near Eastern Apartment, New Ashok Nagar Metro, is damaged.
NCRTC officials stated in the review meeting that repairs will be completed within a week, said CMO. NCRTC will soon repair the road at Khichripur near Dhobi Ghat, which also falls under NCRTC jurisdiction. A 300-metre section is damaged.
Delhi BJP general secretary and MP Yogendra Chandolia said it is laughable that for the past two weeks, Atishi has been releasing a new list of deteriorating roads every day, while work has yet to begin on even a single road.
