Tech Reviewers | Scam

Probably True, have you guys noticed how no reviewer these days talks about the processors
Phones ranging from 10 to 20k have almost the same processors.
For ex the g99 mediatek chip is being used from 8k devices to 17-18k tabs.
Also the sd 695,6 gen1 ,6 gen3 are basically the same.

Never was it a mystery that the cream of the crop talent agencies control the review market in the YT and e-journalism space.
It happened in the US during the growth of the tech YT market, it will happen in India as well.
It is far better to be informed about the product you want to buy through tech-forward articles/reviews/videos rather than opinion-forward ones and follow benchmarks and statistics based on information from community reputed sources.

Now it's mostly sponsored by manufacturers via agencies and these YT-techbros use some of that funds for viewbotting to tickle the algorithm.

Same goes for automotive industry where reviewers are given free trip to some exotic location to review their new product.

"Tech reviewers"? Most of these guys are entertainers. WTF is an unboxing video? And why would anyone watch it for anything other than entertainment.

They are just an extension of the advertising industry. And the model agencies are doing the booking. Nothing new.

More than 95% Tech reviewers are jokers... Only reading specifications and removing devices from their packaging....making exaggerated claims as told to them by the brands...earning thousands of rs per video....what a crazy stupid world we live in...

They all speak so fast. Like a gun to their head.

I always felt that that they needed to go to the bathroom so I let them have their privacy and skip watching the video altogether.

Somehow though, that's what the masses want. I had to sit through a barrage of a thousand words just to find out why the lights on a TWS case/charger wouldn't turn off (it's because it's charging the buds, it'll turn off when they're fully charged). And that horrific waste of electricity of a video had overwhelmingly positive comments.

Also I think everytime that I hear a "theek hai" or "ok franz", a new strand of grey hair pops up around my ear.

Worst is: when reviewers open packages and throw the contents away. It looks so obnoxious and disrespectfull. Tossing away the box cover, cables, booklets nonchalantly. Would the reviewer do this, if he actually purchased the device from his open pocket ? They look so retarded and idiotic.

its always been this way, even outside India, look at MBKHD, probably one of the more egregious Apple shills out there, any big youtuber will get biased as soon as they become big enough, there are very few content creators left that will actually call out OEM bullshit while having proper data to back it up. its just how it is, I dont trust gadget reviews these days, just skim through a couple of reviews to make sure there's nothing thats a deal breaker for me, and then its either Reddit/respective gadget forums and wait for user reviews to show up.

I personally like and stick to:

Mr.whosetheboss - Arun's production skills are crazy good. His content is also top-tier

Michael Fisher (MrMobile) - His phone journalism style and tone is what really appeals to me. He was also the best part of PocketNow.

Can a small youtuber become big without being biased to a brand, who then sends more products to "review", which in turn generates more views, and so on?

not in today's world no, maybe back when Linus, Marques etc were starting out.

When i hear its non snapdragon processor phone its over for me. Phone immediately gets rejected . Har ek field mai kuch jyada hi sir par chada rakha hai influencers ko .Inka hi chakro mai phone and lot of other products are over priced how can a phone be above one lakh .How can a phone be expensive than an over priced laptop like ASUS rog`s

At the minimum, I would expect a reviewer to be objective. That should remove some of the bias if not all. Otherwise, its just an entertainer, influencer, etc. etc. I love their video thumbnails - they are fascinating.
Unfortunately the true reviewers are rarer than an unicorn - TQS, ASR come to mind.

Except a handful of channels, the whole of YT is like this: they don't care if they are objective, they focus on video length and watch time coz that's what makes them money and brings in sponsors. I watch YT to stay entertained more than informed. The real info is in text reviews.

With the removal of Dislike count + excessive comment moderation, even shitty videos can appear as well received. This was done coz YT doesn't care how accurate the content is, but only how long you watch it and how many ads they can show you.

They call that a junket.

I've never been able to appreciate that guy that I was introduced to over a decade ago. I figure I'm not his audience. The guy is a good salesman to the non tech savvy. Whenever some recommends him you know why.

Everybody wants to get noticed by him so they keep dropping his name for that reason only.

If I want entertainment I'll go listen to AvE

So hilarious when he tries to pronounce the cities in a Canadian accent where warranty can be availed because he got sent a product for the Indian market :D

Funnily enough he's got a grouse about lousy tech reviews. He's coined the term BOLTR (Bored of lame tech reviews) and aspires to be better
