Noida: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly robbing Rs 7.8 lakh from a cash collection agent in Sector Beta 2. On Monday, while the victim was returning to his workplace after collecting money, a car collided with his bike. The accused exited the vehicle and stole his bag of cash and his purse with identity cards.
The arrested accused are Ram Kishore and Sumit, both from Beta 2 and Sachin Kumar from Bulandshahr.
Police revealed that the group had been planning the robbery for some time, conducting surveillance and stealing a car to facilitate the crime.
DCP (Greater Noida) Saad Miya Khan said that Sanjay Singh (30), who works as a cash collection agent and lives in Rabupura, Greater Noida, sustained minor injuries from the incident. He informed his seniors after the collision, and shortly after, the assailants returned to snatch his belongings.
Following Singh's complaint, police registered a case against the unidentified accused under BNS sections 281 (rash driving), 125A (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 304(2) (snatching).
Police formed multiple teams and reviewed footage from around 250 CCTV cameras to identify the accused.
"On Wednesday night, police spotted a suspicious vehicle and, when attempting to apprehend the suspects, they were fired upon. During the ensuing gunfight, the assailants sustained leg injuries from police return fire," said an official.
The police recovered the stolen cash, the car used in the robbery, two illegal firearms, and Singh's identity cards. Efforts are ongoing to locate three more accused involved in the incident.
