Ludhiana: Days after two unidentified miscreants fired at the trustee of a chain of schools near Samrala area, Khanna police have arrested one of the accused.
SSP Ashwini Ghotial said police have solved the case with the arrest of Pritpal Singh (26) from Amritsar on Wednesday.
Pritpal of Navi Abadi in Gharinda in Amritsar, along with his accomplice and others living abroad, had attacked the complainant with the intention of “intimidating him and demanding ransom”, police said.

On Sept 30, Baldev Singh of Chandigarh Sector 33-B informed the police at 1 pm in the afternoon, he and his son Harsh Singh were going from Garden Valley School to Chandigarh via Machiwara Sahib in their SUV.
The complainant said that when they reached near a petrol pump before Gari Bridge, a silver car came from behind them, with two persons seated inside.
The complainant was attending a friend's phone call when one of the occupants of the car, sitting next to the driver's seat, fired at him with the “intention of killing” him. He said that the bullet went through the rear window of their car and hit him on the left side of the neck.
Baldev said the attackers sped away towards Gari Pul.
Police said a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections at Machiwara Sahib police station following which the arrest was made on Wednesday.
