Something to look forward to: Amazon Prime subscribers who appreciate free game offers have quite a few options this month. Since it's October, Prime Gaming is giving away several horror-themed titles, including Doom Eternal, BioShock Remastered, Scorn, and A Plague Tale: Innocence.

One of the benefits of an Amazon Prime subscription is the slew of free games available on Prime Gaming, which can be redeemed using codes on major online game stores such as Epic and GOG (not Steam, though).

Being Halloween month, several of the latest free games have a horror (or horror-ish) theme. The most enticing available right now is Doom Eternal. It's over four years old, but the FPS remains a must-play for those who've never had the pleasure.

Also available now is BioShock Remastered. The updated 2016 version of the 2007 classic introduces high-resolution textures and models along with 4K support and other extras. If you haven't played the amazing immersive sim since it first arrived, would you kindly check this one out.

There are plenty of other spooky titles arriving on Prime Gaming this month, including – from October 17 – The Killing Floor 2. The Killing Floor 3 is still "coming soon," so you could get some practice on the predecessor before the new game arrives.

On October 31, Prime Gaming will add A Plague Tale: Innocence to its giveaway list. This writer recalls loving the rat-filled adventure at the time of its release in 2019, though its sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, is better.

Also landing on Halloween is Scorn. It's one of the more modern games to hit Prime Gaming, having released in 2022. The visually impressive, Giger-inspired fleshy horror is mostly a puzzler. Opinion remains split on this one – I wasn't a fan. Still, it's worth taking a look as it's free.

Some titles still available on Prime Gaming after being previously added include Borderlands 2, Kerbal Space Program, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, LEGO The Hobbit, and Greedfall Gold Edition.

Since Amazon keeps raising the price on Prime, and is going to be showing more ads, I periodically unsubscribe. However; I temporarily have Prime now. I see that some of the games on the Prime Gaming are for GOG games. GOG would appear to be one of the good guys on the Internet.

If I use this Free Prime Gaming thing to get GOG games, then I unsubscribe from Prime, would I still have access to those games on GOG? And are there any unseen issues we should be aware of here?

That is what I thought. I have found that when you unsubscribe to Prime, you lose access to the games in Prime Gaming, but when you resubscribe, they are still there for you. Though I have never used any of them.

One would expect GOG to allow you access to any games in GOG regardless of your Prime status.

Thanks!
