2 arrested on attempt to murder charge

Ludhiana: Two days after Ludhiana Rural Police booked nine people in an attempt to murder case after one of them allegedly fired at a man, it has arrested two accused.
Those arrested have been identified as Sandeep Singh and Harmesh Singh of Akkuwal village in Sidhwan Bet area.
Police recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol and one live cartridge.SSP Ludhiana Rural Navneet Singh Bains told media in Jagraon while the accused were arrested on Tuesday, “other accused will be arrested soon”.
Balveer Singh of Talwara had recorded a statement with police that on Oct 6, he was coming home from his private duty at 9.30 pm.
When he reached near the house of a villager, the accused including Gurdeep Singh, Sandeep Singh Goli, Ghugi, Harmesh Singh, Kuldeep Singh, all of Akkuwal village, Gora and Suraj of Gussuwal and two other unidentified people came there on three motorcycles.
While Suraj started beating him up, Gurdeep took out a knife and showed it to him and started threatening to kill him.
Ghugi struck him on his arms with an iron rod and on the left side of the forehead. Then, Sandeep pulled out a pistol and shot him in the stomach.
Following the alarm raised by the victim, after which people gathered at the spot, the accused fled the scene.
The SSP said it has come to light that on Oct 6 in the evening, there was a fight between the complainant and the accused at Ludhiana.
