Elderly man tricked into paying 50k

Bengaluru: A 61-year-old businessman recently fell prey to cybercrooks, who tricked him into paying Rs 50,000, on the pretext of refunding the money he had paid for servicing his water purifier.
Parashuram (name changed), a resident of Girinagar in Banashankari 3rd Stage, stated in his complaint to Girinagar police that he got his water purifier filter serviced on Sept 30.He paid for it online.
A couple of hours later, he received calls from three numbers, claiming to be from Eureka Forbes. They sent him a message saying Rs 50,000 was credited to his account and tricked him into returning the money to their account. Parashuram transferred the money and later learnt that had been cheated. tnn
