Rich tributes paid to Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das on his Birth Anniversary by Rourkela Steel Plant

Rich tributes were paid by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das, an illustrious son of Odisha on his 147th Birth Anniversary on 9th October. A function was organised by the Education wing of Town Services Department of RSP near the Gopabandhu Statue premises at Sector- 19, Ambagan Chowk. Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR) with Additional Charge of ED (Projects) of RSP was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the function by paying floral tributes at the statue of the ‘Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das’. He was accompanied by Mr. Alok Verma ED (Mines) with the additional charge of ED (Works), Mr. Abhay Kumar Behuria ED (F&A), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai CGM Incharge (Iron), Mr. Anil Kumar CGM Incharge(MM), Mr. Pratap Kumar Swain CGM Incharge (TA & CSR),  Dr. Jayant Kumar Acharya  CMO Incharge (M&HS), Mr. Bijay Kumar Jojo, CGM (TE & Horticulture). Mr. Kesabananda Swain of Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan, welcomed the audience. The programme commenced with the rendition of the state anthem “Bande Utkal Janani” by Guru Gaurang Mallick and group.

3 students namely Subhalaxmi Sahoo of  Deepika Ispat Sikshya Sadan, Aparna Jyotishi of  Gyana Jyoti Public School, and Mohit Panda of IEMS, Sector-20 spoke about the life and values espoused by Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das in Odia, Hindi and English respectively.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Tarun Misra, awarded the 18 winners of the Elocution competitions held in the senior and junior categories in the three different languages, that is, Odia, Hindi and English. It is worth mentioning here that, large number of students from different schools had taken part in the Elocution competition held earlier on 27th    September 2024 at Ispat Vidya Mandir.

Ms. Subhasmita Senapati a student of Ispat Vidya Mandar, anchored the programme while Ms. Subhashreee Jena of Ispat Vidya Mandar, proposed a formal vote of thanks.
