Hyderabad: A 34-year-old auto driver, Shaik Javed, has been arrested for the
murder of a 44-year-old woman, R Sudharani, on Sept 30. Javed allegedly killed the woman owing to a financial dispute between them, Jubilee Hills police said. Javed also nursed a grudge against her as she was harassing him over financial issues, threatened to lodge a false case and threatened to die by suicide, police added.
Shaik Javed, a native of Kazipet, was arrested at Chengicherla on the outskirts of the city and sent in judicial remand on Wednesday.
A blood-stained knife and stolen jewellery were seized from him, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Jubilee Hills, P Venkatagiri said.
Police said the accused and the victim knew each other since 2022, and he invested 2.8 lakh in a chit, which the victim was operating. But when she allegedly failed to return his investment and attempted to implicate him in false cases, he developed a grudge.
Quoting the accused, police said that the woman also planned an attack on him with four others a few months ago to do away with the financial dispute. Further, she was also threatening him repeatedly with false cases and suicide threats.
Upset with this, Javed killed her at her home, looted her gold jewellery, and fled. Based on technical evidence and other clues, police detected the case.
