Municipal Corporation chief directs ATPs to move in field; ensure no building constructed without sanctioned building plan

LUDHIANA: Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal has issued strict directions to the building branch officials to act against the illegal constructions across the city.
Apart from the building inspectors, Assistant Town Planners (ATP) have also been directed to move to the field and ensure strict action against illegal constructions.
The directions were issued during the meeting held by MC Commissioner Dachalwal at MC Zone D office on Thursday. MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, SE-cum-MTP Sanjay Kanwar, Assistant Town Panners (ATP), building inspectors among others were present in the meeting.
Dachalwal also directed the officials to expedite the recovery of dues and unassessed challans. Weekly targets have been fixed for recovery.
The building branch officials have been directed to ensure that no one is allowed to construct any building without a sanctioned building plan.
Further Dachalwal also appealed the residents to stop illegal constructions and start construction works only after getting a building plan sanctioned from the civic body, otherwise strict action would be taken against illegal constructions.
MC demolishes illegal building and an encroachment on road portion
The building branch of MC demolished an illegal building and an encroachment on the road portion on Thursday.
The illegal building was being constructed on old GT road near Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib and encroachment on the road portion was being done near MC Zone A office. Both the areas fall under MC Zone A.
The building branch officials stated that the building owner was constructing the building without getting a building plan approved from the MC. Warning was issued in the past, but the owner still continued the construction works due to which action was taken on Thursday.
Speaking of the encroachment bid on the road portion near MC Zone A office, the building branch officials stated that earlier also someone tried to encroach upon the same portion and MC had demolished the encroachment. Now again, someone was trying to encroach upon the road portion and a shed was also installed at the site. The encroachment has been razed.
