Vasco: Five domestic flights that were scheduled to arrive at Dabolim airport were diverted to Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports due to the prevailing bad weather conditions, late in the evening on Tuesday.
About 800 passengers travelling to Goa by the five flights had to endure hardships as diversions became inevitable.
The same number of passengers were stranded at Dabolim airport as airlines scrambled to reschedule flights because of the vagaries of the weather.
Sources in the aviation industry said the stranded passengers at Dabolim airport were flown to their destinations after the arrival of the diverted flights, well after midnight.
The sources said that a Goa-bound
Vistara flight from Bengaluru was diverted to Hyderabad and a Goa-bound
IndiGo flight from Mumbai was also diverted to Hyderabad.
The sources added that a Goa-bound IndiGo flight returned to its origin, Bengaluru; while a Goa-bound IndiGo flight from Delhi was diverted to Bengaluru, as was a Goa-bound IndiGo flight from Chennai.
