Vijayendra predicts Siddaramaiah’s resignation before winter session
Belagavi: After his previous predictions failed, BJP state president BY Vijayendra has made a fresh forecast, insisting Siddaramaiah will resign as chief minister before the winter session of the legislature in Belagavi, likely in Nov-Dec. He also indicated "rapid" political changes in Karnataka over the coming days.
"There are fast-paced political developments happening in the state," he said.
"In the next few days, the kind of changes that will occur will be visible to both media and the people."
This is Vijayendra's third prediction ever since an FIR was filed by Lokayukta police against Siddaramaiah for alleged wrongdoing in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda) site allotment case. In one of his earlier predictions, he said Siddaramaiah would step down after Dasara.
Vijayendra claimed some ministers are supporting Siddaramaiah to win his favour, while others are holding "secret" meetings. He claimed that these actions reflect awareness that Siddaramaiah could resign at any time. "There is no doubt about it [that Siddaramaiah would step down]," Vijayendra said, while accusing the Siddaramaiah govt of being stagnant. He added that the chief minister "can't escape by threatening opposition members".
Vijayendra also addressed dissent within his party, especially open criticism from senior legislators, including Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and Ramesh Jarkiholi, on his style of leadership. He downplayed their opposition, emphasising that his focus remains on keeping the party united and working with all members.
"Seniors in the party need some time to understand me. Labelling their criticism as anti-party activities would be wrong. I have always said that I will take everyone along. They too need time. Everything will be good in the days ahead," Vijayendra said.

Yatnal and Jarkiholi have accused Vijayendra of indulging in "adjustment politics" with the Congress, claiming that he, along with his father and former chief minister BS Yediyurappa, are trying to control the party. "I am in it for the long haul. Challenges are common in politics. I have seen the politics of BS Yediyurappa. I am his son, and I imbibed a ‘never-give-up' attitude from him. I will tackle these challenges," he said.
He also noted that it may take time for senior BJP functionaries to fully accept him as president. "Sometimes it takes two or three years to gain acceptance."
