Youth dies after injecting drug in Namakkal district

Namakkal: A 20-year-old youth died after he injected himself with a drug in Kumarapalayam here on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as T Gautham, of Kumarapalayam.
Around 8pm, Gautam's friends, Saravanan, 21, and Sridhar, 20, visited him. G Anusiya, 19, Gautam's wife, said the three went to the terrace where they injected themselves with drugs in their veins.Gautam collapsed shortly after he took the injection.
Anusiya and Gautam's friends quickly transported him to the local government hospital for medical assistance. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival and alerted the police.
Kumarapalayam police arrived at the hospital and began investigations. "A case has been registered, and further inquiry is on," said an officer with the Kumarapalayam police.
