MUMBAI: The Mahayuti coordination committee is working to prevent possible rebellion by candidates in the upcoming elections, said Shambhuraje Desai.
At a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday, Desai announced that teams have been set up in all 288 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra.
Details on how many seats each party is aiming for were not provided, with Desai mentioning that final decisions will be made by the party leaders.
"We have done our homework and are ready to write the paper," he added, noting that the election code of conduct is yet to be declared.
BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule and NCP (AP) state president Sunil Tatkare were absent from the press conference. Bawankule was in Nagpur for a program with Prime Minister Modi, and Tatkare was in Raigad attending an online event with the Prime Minister.
Desai also mentioned there is no rush in deciding and declaring a candidate for the chief minister’s post. Decisions will be made by three leaders and then presented to the central leadership, according to Prasad Lad. The choice of chief minister will be determined after the elections.
