Gurgaon: The result day, which began with an air of uncertainty, later gave way for festivities to
BJP members and supporters gathered at the party office in the city, who celebrated as the party swept 48 seats, securing a third consecutive term in power.
With only a few workers monitoring the numbers closely, the office remained sparsely populated in the early hours of counting when Congress was leading according to the trends.
By the afternoon, the picture began changing, and quiet tension transformed into ecstasy. Party workers started arriving at the office. They danced on dhol beats and burst crackers.
"
Diwali has come early for us! This victory is a testament to our relentless hard work and people's faith in the BJP leadership. We worked day and night to ensure this win, and today, it feels like all that effort has paid off," said
Amit Sharma, holding a BJP flag with pride.
For some functionaries, the win reaffirmed people's trust in the party's ideology and governance.
"We're not just celebrating a win; we're celebrating the trust people have placed in us for the third time. This isn't just an expected victory; it's a historic one," said Jagtar Singh Bagha, the district joint treasurer of the BJP.
"This is a victory of development, good governance, and the people's unwavering faith in us. Congress tried to mislead the people with false promises, but the people of Haryana have rejected them," he said.
Heena Shukla, a member of the party's Mahila Morcha, said, "This Navratri, we offered a lotus at the feet of Maa Bharti to thank her for our win."
At the office adorned with lotuses, the party's symbol, women from the Mahila Morcha clicked pictures with cutouts of PM Modi.
Soniya Yadav, the district president of the BJP's women's wing, said such a historic mandate is overwhelming. "We campaigned door-to-door in rural and urban areas, speaking to women about the schemes that have changed their lives, and our efforts have paid off," she said.
Another party member, Dr Vishika Yadav, said the double-engine govt (election of the same party as the one ruling at the centre) brought development in the state. "People have rejected the politics of caste. We work for development, and the people have responded to that," she said.
