Appoint principal in Gaya college, says HC
Patna: The Patna high court has expressed strong concern over Mirza Galib College, a minority education institution in Gaya, operating without a regular principal for the past seven years. Justice Nani Tagia directed the officers of Magadh University (MU), including the vice-chancellor, to appoint a regular principal within two months.
This order was issued on September 21, following a writ petition filed by Sujat Ali Khan, a professor at the college.

The petition challenged a prohibitory order from MU’s registrar, which had prevented Khan from serving as the administrative incharge of the college since January 20 of this year.
During the proceedings, senior advocate Amit Srivastava, representing the college management, informed the court that the college has been functioning without a principal since 2017. Despite multiple requests to the university administration, no action has been taken by MU officials.
Srivastava informed the court that the appointment of principals for affiliated colleges required approval from a selection committee constituted by the university, a process that MU has failed to initiate.
