Woman rescued from captivity
Bokaro: A 36-year-old woman was rescued on Tuesday by police from the outhouse of a residence in Sector 4, where she had been confined by her husband for several months. Police had to break open the lock to free the woman.
Police was alerted about the woman in captivity by social worker Renuka Singh. The woman, identified as Anita Devi, was found in an emaciated state due to prolonged starvation.

Anita told police she had been denied food for several days.
Initial probe found the woman is the first wife of Arun, a disabled person. Since the couple do not have child Arun married a second time. Anita claimed that her husband and his second wife subjected her to physical abuse and kept her locked in the house for months. SP (in-charge) Kapil Chaudhary on Tuesday said, "Investigation is going on to ascertain why her husband kept her locked in the room and tortured her. Legal action will be taken on the basis of the woman's statement."
