Gurgaon:
BJP's ‘sab ka saath, sab ka vikas' model of
development, which does not favour any particular region or community, helped the party win its third straight term in
Haryana, former minister and newly elected MLA from Badshapur Rao Narbir Singh said on Tuesday.
The seasoned politician, who had won this assembly seat in 2014 as well, said he was confident of winning by a big margin over his nearest rival.
"I was confident about a big victory because of the excitement that I could see and the support I received while campaigning. I was not contesting. It was the people of Badshapur who were contesting the election," Narbir Singh said.
He wasn't just sure about his victory, but also that of his party. "I was elected as an MLA three times and became a minister every time. How is it possible that I would win, and BJP would not form a govt," Narbir said, adding that he hopes to get a cabinet berth, but the decision would be for the party to decide, and he would accept whatever responsibility is given to him.
On why the people of Haryana elected BJP, Narbir Singh said the party works for everyone, and during Congress's rule, the focus was only on one district and one community. His priorities for this term are to resolve city residents' issues related to waterlogging, roads, infrastructure and solid waste management.
"I want to make Gurgaon a beautiful city," he said.
Wrestler-turned-politician Mukesh Sharma, who won the Gurgaon assembly seat, said his victory was that of the party.
"People have voted for development that was carried out by the govt in the past 10 years. The city has shown that it votes for development, and not on the basis of caste and community," Sharma said.
Tejpal Tanwar, BJP's newly elected MLA from Sohna, said he was expecting that the lotus would bloom in Gurgaon, but the result for the state has come as a "pleasant surprise". "People have voted for a transparent govt and voted against the domination of one community and one district," he said.
Bimla Chaudhary, the Pataudi MLA, said, "Haryana is the only state to buy all crops on MSP. We will to support our farmers and continue on our development path."
