20-yr-old held on child abuse accusation

Ludhiana: The Division Number 6 police on Tuesday arrested a 20-year-old man on the charges of assaulting a 14-year-old boy sexually. The arrest followed a first-information report (FIR) filed on Monday, while the suspect was taken into custody the next day.
The victim’s mother, who works as a domestic help and operates a food stall, is the complainant.The accused is local. Assistant sub-inspector Joginder Singh, investigating officer, claimed that the mother had reported her son missing and last seeing him playing nearby. She runs an evening food stall at a roundabout where the accused also operates a stall.
Around 11.30 pm on Monday, the accused called over her son for help with moving his food cart, but as the boy went over to assist him, the man took him to a secluded area allegedly, committed sexual assault on the child there, and intimidated him into silence. Upon returning home, the boy, however, mustered courage and recounted the incident to his mother.
ASI Joginder Singh confirmed that police had registered a case against the accused and arrested him shortly thereafter. Police continue with their inquiries to gather more information regarding the incident and find any potential witnesses.
