Chandigarh: Savitri Jindal, the richest woman of the country, is among three independent candidates to win the Haryana assembly elections from Hisar City. She polled 49,231 votes. Her son Navin Jindal is a BJP MP from Kurukshetra. Earlier, she served as minister in the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress govt between 2005 and 2013 before quitting the party. Devender Kadyan, an entrepreneur-turned-politician from Sonipat district, was the second independent candidate to taste victory, defeating former speaker and senior Congress’s Kuldeep Sharma by 35,209 votes from Ganaur.

Congress rebel Rajesh Joon, a confidant of ex-CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, won from Bahadurgarh by defeating Dinesh Kaushik of BJP by 41,994 votes.
