Goods train collides with concrete sleeper in UP's Rae Bareli

A goods train collided with a concrete sleeper near Rae Bareli's Benikama level crossing at 11.20pm on Monday. The sleeper, located close to the rail track, caused minimal damage. An FIR has been filed under railway act 153. Concrete sleepers had been left near the tracks during an upgrade, but who placed it remains unknown.

LUCKNOW: A goods train collided with a concrete sleeper between Lachhmanpur-Bela Bela railway station in Rae Bareli district on Monday night at approximately 11.20pm near the Benikama manned level crossing area.
The cattle guard of the freight train's locomotive struck the sleeper, which had been left in close proximity to the rail track.
Following the incident, the RPF Unchahar Junction filed an FIR against an unknown person under railway act 153, which pertains to endangering the safety of passengers or obstructing rolling stock.

According to the PRO office of the Lucknow division of Northern Railway, only a single sleeper placed near the rail track had collided with the cattle guard of the locomotive.
Official sources revealed that during the upgradation of the section, several concrete sleepers were left along the rail track; however, it remains unclear who positioned one of the sleepers in such close proximity to the track.
In the aftermath of the collision, the loco-pilots conducted a thorough inspection of both the locomotive and the rail track. As no significant damage was discovered, train operations resumed by 11.50pm.
