Ambala: The election victory scoreline read 3-1 in Ambala district on Tuesday, with
Congress taking assembly constituencies of Ambala City, Mullana and Naraingarh and
BJP retaining Ambala Cantonment.
Former
Haryana home minister Anil Vij defeated Congress rebel and independent candidate Chitra Sarwara by 7,277 votes in Ambala Cantt, his seventh win and fourth in a row from the seat.
Vij bagged 59,858 (44.9%) votes against Chitra’s 52,581 (39,44%). Congress candidate Parvinderpal Singh Pari secured 14,469 (10.85%) votes.
“It is victory of BJP’s policies, people’s faith and PM Narendra Modi,” said Vij.
Chitra was the runner-up in Ambala Cantt in the 2019 assembly election too.
She had rebelled against Congress in 2019 and in 2024 after the party failed to give her ticket.
