Babulal dares JMM to register FIR against him
Ranchi: A day after JMM questioned the legitimacy of BJP’s Gogo Didi Yojana, saffron party’s state president Babulal Marandi on Tuesday dared the incumbent Hemant Soren govt to register FIRs against him and his party colleagues over the same.
The JMM had claimed that BJP was unlawfully enrolling womenfolk for its ‘Gogo Didi Yojana’, which promises Rs 2,100 monthly aid to beneficiaries if BJP forms govt.

It violates Section 123 (1) of Peoples’ Representation Act of 1951 and Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, which refrains bribery to induce a voter or receiving any gratification to exercise their electoral right, the ruling party claimed. Marandi, who returned to Ranchi after spending a day at the national capital, headed to a registration camp for the proposed scheme at Khajamtoli village near the Birsa Munda airport.
“If the state govt registers FIRs against me or any of us, we will lodge counter FIRs against the CM and JMM president. They had promised several things to the electorate, including unemployment allowances of Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 to the youth before 2019 assembly elections but did not fulfil them,” Marandi said. He also defended the registration drive by claiming that beneficiaries will be provided Rs 2,100 from the first month itself when the BJP forms govt in Jharkhand.
Congress spokesperson Rakesh Kumar Sinha said BJP’s move was a case of violation of EC regulations. “The BJP is scared of Maiyya Samman Yojana. But this trick will fall flat in upcoming polls,” he said.
