Isasani SISF battalion to receive Rs108cr after a long wait
Nagpur: One of the most awaited yet prolonged projects – the Indian Reserve Forces Isasani Battalion number 5 will soon get Rs 108 crore as phase 1 funds of the project, informed ZP member and NCP-SP leader Salil Deshmukh on Tuesday. "The funds have already been sanctioned and are in the process. That means the on-ground work will start soon," added Deshmukh during a press conference.
To be built at a total cost of Rs 900 crore, the proposal was approved during the pre-Covid era and even 100 acre land has already been handed over to the police by the revenue department.
On the one hand, Deshmukh welcomed the govt move to approve funds and on the other took a jibe at the saffron party. "The proposal was advocated by the then-home minister Anil Deshmukh after which power changed hands and the new govt tried its best to not approve the funds. However, due to our continuous efforts at the administration level, we were successful in restarting the process of the project," the NCP neta added.
The Isasani battalion has been operational at the State Industrial Security Force (SISF) camp at Amravati due to a lack of facilities for the past two years. The recent sanction of funds will result in the battalion being relocated back to Isasani once the approved funds are utilized and the work begins.
Deshmukh stated that the infrastructure plans for the battalion include a training camp for around 1,200 trainees, an administration building, and more. Solving the problem of unemployment in the region, this project has 326 approved positions including the commandant, police inspector as well as medical nurses, sanitation workers, and more, thus encouraging the young people of the region to join the police force.
