Chennai: The corporation swimming pool at Marina beach is now open. Swimming enthusiasts can now book slots by scanning a QR code on the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) X handle or website.
The pool, renovated at a cost of `1.4 crore, was inaugurated by deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday.
Swimming fees are `50 for one hour if booked at the counter, and `45 for online booking.

For those between 12 years (minimum age) and 14 years, the counter cost is `30 and `25 for online booking. Swimmers are required to furnish their govt ID proof for verification.
The pool is open to the general public from 5.30am to 8.30am, and from 9.30am to 7.30pm. The women-only slot is from 8.30am to 9.30am. The pool is closed on Monday
The GCC has appointed 38 staff members, including 10 lifeguards, eight conservancy workers, 10 housekeeping staff, two supervisors, six security guards, one electrician, and one plumber.
Established in 1947, the Marina pool is 100 metres in length and 30 metres in width. The pool was earlier being maintained by a private contractor. The corporation will maintain it now.
GCC now plans to renovate two other swimming pools at Thiruvottiyur and Vepery.
