Thiruvananthapuram: Govt made precise interventions to expedite works included in the Sabarimala master plan project, stated devaswom minister V N Vasavan in the assembly on Tuesday.
"As part of the project, construction of buildings for police and KSRTC officials to stay at Nilakkal base camp during the Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilakku festival is progressing.
Additionally, steps are being taken to complete the renovation of Pamba Vinayaka guest house before the next Sabarimala season. Measures are taken to complete the construction of the protective wall for the toilet block at Sabarimala before the season starts," said Vasavan.
To enhance facilities at Nilakkal base camp, administrative approval of Rs 28.4 crore was granted for developing the core area, and Rs 9.94 crore for installing a new drinking water pipeline from Kunnar dam to Sabarimala. Also, administrative approval was given for Rs 35 lakh to implement a two-bin waste management system by constructing steel cages (to protect against wild boar attacks) for collecting solid waste on the path between Pampa and Valiya Nadappanthal, said the minister.
The DPR for the Pampa rescue bridge, Sabarimala fire safety systems and for roads and associated works within the Nilakkal base camp have been prepared, he added.
Kerala cooperative society amendment
Vasavan, also the cooperation minister, informed the assembly that the process of drafting rules in accordance with Kerala Cooperative Society Amendment was in its final stage. A committee consisting of cooperatives and officials, with the registrar of cooperative societies as chairman, was formed. The draft was published for feedback from cooperatives and the general public. Suggestions received within the stipulated time frame were reviewed, and the final notification of the amendment will be issued. The procedures will be completed at the earliest, he added.
The House unanimously passed the bill in the ninth session of the 15th Kerala legislative assembly, aiming for comprehensive reform of the cooperative sector in the state. Following the governor's approval, a gazette notification was issued. Once the rules are finalized, comprehensive renewal of the cooperative sector will become a reality, said Vasavan.
