Bhubaneswar: Job aspirants staged a demonstration here on Monday demanding cancellation of the ongoing online exams for recruitment to the posts of revenue inspector (RI), assistant RI, amin, statistical field surveyor (SFS) and ICDS supervisor. The protestors alleged that irregularities have taken place in the current recruitment exams, which were conducted by the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC).
On Oct 3, the aspirants had staged a protest outside the residence of higher education minister Suryabanshi Suraj and organised a rally in Cuttack, demanding cancellation of the online exams. “The exams are being conducted at cyber cafes and small computer centres in market complexes. The ambience of the exam centre is unwelcoming and the centre owners do not hold the exams in a transparent manner. The outsourcing agency involved in the exam should be relieved from this task,” said Sunil Mishra, an aspirant.
“The online exam system should be stopped. Instead of conducting exams over several days, it should be held on a single day via offline mode. It will ensure transparency,” Mishra said, adding, “A delegation of the protesters met additional chief secretary Surendra Kumar and other officials to discuss the issue. We have been told that a high-level meeting will be conducted on Tuesday.”
Revenue minister Suresh Pujari said OSSSC has engaged an outsourcing agency to conduct the exams. “Many aspirants have brought allegations against the agency. I have sought a report from the revenue department on the matter and have informed the CM. The govt will take necessary steps,” Pujari said.
