Three killed as bus overturns on hilly road near Ambaji
Palanpur: Three people died and 30 were injured when a private bus carrying pilgrims from Ambaji fell into a natural drain and overturned in a hilly pass some about 12km from the temple town on Monday.
Two men and a three-year-old baby died in the accident at Trishulya Ghat, a road with a steep incline, early in the morning. The vehicle was descending the road on its way to Kheda district when the driver lost control, resulting in the bus overturning, police said.
Banaskantha collector Mihir Patel told mediapersons that at least 60 people from the villages around Nadiad and Kathlal towns were in the bus.
They were headed home after offering prayers at the Ambaji temple.
Patel said 52 injured people were referred to Palanpur Civil Hospital and are said to be stable. Officials said nine are in critical condition.
