Kolkata: Puja revellers will have to carry umbrellas while pandal-hopping with the Met office predicting on Monday that the city will remain “partly cloudy with occasional spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers in some parts” on Saptami and Ashtami. While the maximum temperature could hover between 32°C and 33°C during the puja days, a cloud cover will persist from Oct 9-13.
The rain could be moderate on the first two days of the puja — Oct 9 and 10 — but the showers could get scanty and be restricted to light spells on Oct 11 and 12. Very light rain has been predicted on Oct 13.
All south Bengal districts are likely to receive “light to moderate rain at some places” till Oct 10. Thundershowers could strike some paces in North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore on Oct 11. The rain could get light across the districts from Oct 12 but thundershowers are not ruled out at one or two places.
On Oct 13, very light rain is likely in Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Howrah and Hooghly. The other south Bengal districts will remain dry on that day. In north Bengal, light to moderate rain and thundershowers have been predicted at one or two places in Alipurduar, Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri on Oct 10 and 11. Light to moderate rain could continue across north Bengal districts on Oct 12 and 13.
