Notices issued to two accused for illegal construction
Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Tuesday issued notices regarding constructions on the final plot in Tandalja where two accused in the gang rape case were staying. The civic body also investigated details regarding the residence of a third accused in the case.
The civic body issued the notices after it was revealed that Ektanagar, where the accused stayed, was constructed on govt land.
The houses of the accused were locked since the incident on Oct 4 night.
A VMC official said that the two accused – Mumtaz alias Aftab Banjara and Munna alias Abbas Banjara – were named in the notices, which also mentioned others as owners of the structures on the final plot. He added that many residents of the area started responding to the notices.
It also emerged that another accused, Shahrukh Banjara, claimed he stayed in a VUDA housing scheme for economically weaker sections. VMC was verifying documents to determine if the allotment of the house was in his name and to gather other details regarding the house.
