Rajkot: The Wankaner City Police have arrested three people for stealing a massive 8,000kg of onions, with a value of Rs 3 lakh. The accused include 33-year-old farmer Sabirhusein Shersiya, 30-year-old trader Jabir Badi, and 45-year-old driver and farmer Nazruddin Badi, all residents of Wankaner Taluka, Morbi District.
The police seized cash amounting to Rs 3.11 lakh in cash, 40 kg of onions worth Rs 1,600, and a truck valued at Rs 3 lakh from the accused.

Acting on a tip-off, the police set up a watch and caught the three accused near the Wankaner Amarsar crossing as they were heading towards Wankaner to sell the stolen onions. Upon interrogation, the accused confessed to their crimes, admitting to stealing onions and selling them for quick cash. The police also managed to recover a significant amount of money from the onion sales, as well as a bill detailing their transactions.

The theft was reported by 35-year-old farmer Imran Bhoraniya, who had stored his onions at Rafik Sershiya's Kukda Center in Panchasar village, Wankaner Taluka, Morbi District, from April 25 on a monthly rental basis. When he went to collect the onions on Oct 5, they were missing, prompting him to file a police complaint at the Wankaner City Police Station on Oct 7 under relevant sections of the BNS for theft.
