NEW DELHI: Gurgaon, one of Haryana’s 90 Assembly constituencies, is a General category seat and one of the nine assembly segments within the Gurgaon parliamentary constituency.
Population
According to the 2011 Census, Gurgaon has a population of 1,514,432, comprising 816,690 males and 697,742 females. The city has approximately 35,110 Scheduled Caste (SC) voters, accounting for 9.71% of the electorate.
Gurgaon has a literacy rate of 84.7%, the highest in Haryana, as per the 2011 Census.

Main parties
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) with the Azad Samaj Party are the key parties in the state.
Key candidates
This year’s election in the state of Haryana featured only 1,031 candidates, with the highest number from Jind at 72. This election also witnessed a decrease in the number of women candidates, with only 101 women contesting in the Haryana elections.

A total of 17 candidates are contesting from the Gurgaon (General) Assembly constituency in the 2024 Haryana Assembly election. The three key contenders are Dr Nishant Anand from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Mohit Grover from the Congress, and Mukesh Sharma from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Voter turnout
Haryana recorded a voter turnout of 67.90% on October 5 for the 15th assembly general elections in 2024.Sirsa district recorded the highest turnout of 75.36%, while Faridabad district had the lowest at 56.49%.
Gurugram district recorded 57.96 per cent voter turnout.

Voting and result date
The Assembly elections in the state of Haryana were held in a single phase on October 5, with the results set to be announced on October 8.
The Haryana polls, initially scheduled for October 1, were later postponed by the Election Commission.
Previous election results
In the assembly election 2019, Sudhir Singla from the BJP won with 81,953 votes, capturing 43.3% of the total votes. He defeated Mohit Grover, an Independent candidate, who received 48,638 votes (25.7%).
The assembly election 2014 saw Umesh Aggarwal of the BJP win decisively with 106,106 votes (55.86%). He defeated Gopi Chand Gahlot of the INLD, who garnered 22,011 votes (11.59%).
