Mumbai: Reiterating his view that the MVA must declare a chief ministerial candidate before the assembly election,
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief
Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday said that he will support any chief ministerial candidate announced by allies Congress or NCP (SP) to "save
Maharashtra".
He took a dig at the Mahayuti govt's sops and schemes like the Ladki Bahin Yojana. Thackeray said there was a rain of announcements but a drought of implementation.
He mentioned that while traitor MLAs were given 50 khoke (moneybags) to defect and topple his govt, now sisters in the state were only getting Rs 1,500. In Aug, at the first joint meeting of office-bearers of the three parties, Thackeray had told them that the MVA should announce its CM face in advance to avoid infighting and assured them of his support for the candidate of their choice.
"Announcements are being celebrated, people are being bought by paying money. Distribute sarees. Then they ask if they get the money? Fifty khoke were taken (by defecting MLAs) while forming the govt. Fifty khoke to the traitors and only Rs 1,500 to the sisters? Did you feel no shame in looting and now you are ... giving us our own money?" he said while speaking at an event addressing civil society members, intellectuals, artists, writers and activists.
Thackeray had said the MVA should not go by the logic of deciding to keep the CM's post for the party that wins the most seats. Referring to his "experience" with erstwhile ally BJP, he said they used to discuss seat-sharing in every election with the logic that the CM would be from the party that got more seats and then would work to ensure the alliance partner did not win more seats. He suggested MVA partners avoid such a situation ahead of the assembly polls by deciding on the CM face beforehand.
"Whatever ceremonies are going on, see how they are going on, as if this govt has done everything. I never did any programme because whatever I did for the farmers I did as my duty. Efforts are being made to erase the work done during the Covid period. They are talking about scams during the Covid period. No one is talking about the PM Care Fund scam. They (Mahayuti govt) have committed so many scams that the scam of Rs 70,000 crore now looks small. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj looted Surat for Maharashtra. But two thugs sitting in the centre are looting Maharashtra. They are advertising using loot money. Govt publishes advertisements. This corrupt govt is showing off through fake narrative advertisements. During the Covid period, all the MoUs that were signed by companies were sent to Gujarat by the traitors. Want to ask these two thugs, are you adding salt to our happiness?" Thackeray said.
