Mumbai: Relief came for over 50,000 pharmacy aspirants as admissions commenced after months of delay in the state. More than 50% of colleges lacked permissions from the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), the apex regulatory body for pharma courses in the country, until almost the end of Sept. This led to delays in the admission process.
After approvals were granted, a large majority of colleges, over 430, were added to the first round of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP).
Students were asked to fill option forms until Monday, and the provisional merit list for round one was set to be released on Thursday.
While last year, 453 colleges were part of the process, an official stated that the colleges receiving permission now would be added to the second round of admissions. In total, 50,117 aspirants registered for the admissions this year.
