Pregnant woman walks for 1.5km to board ambulance
Prayagraj: A pregnant woman had to walk around 1.5km to reach ambulance in Kharkha Khas village in absence of a proper road under Koraon Assembly seat in trans-Yamuna pocket of the district. She gave birth to child in the ambulance and was taken to community health centre for further treatment.
The incident which occurred on Monday evening, came to light after a video of the woman walking on a kacchi sadak towards an ambulance went viral on social media on Tuesday.

After the woman, a esident of Kanchanpur Majra, experienced labour pain her family called the 108 ambulance service. However, due to lack of a proper road the ambulance couldn't reach her house and she had to walk around 1.5 km on foot to reach the ambulance.
Upon being contacted, medical officer in charge Koraon CHC Dr Shamim Akhtar told TOI, "After the family members called for an ambulance on Monday evening, we deputed an ambulance to take the pregnant woman to the concerned CHC for delivery. However, when the ambulance driver tried to reach the site he found that there was no proper road and the vehicle could not move forward." He admitted, "The woman gave birth to a baby inside the ambulance and was brought to the CHC for further treatment." Both mother and child were okay.

The video that went viral on social media caught the attention of political leaders who assured villagers that they would get a road constructed at the earliest. Locals claimed that there were over 150 voters in the area, but the road had not been constructed here despite several requests.
