Kolkata: CBI on Monday told an Alipore court that R G Kar house staff Asish Pandey was instrumental in recruitment of other house staff at the hospital and that they have found documents confirming financial transactions related to the financial irregularities case against him and others.
Pandey, unit president of TMCP at the hospital, was the fifth person arrested in the financial irregularities case at the hospital.
He was arrested last week and touted as the “right hand man” of former principal Sandip Ghosh who too was arrested in the same case along with three others and is currently in judicial custody. Pandey was remanded in four days of CBI custody on Monday.
CBI counsel Ram Babu Kanojia told the magistrate that they have found multiple bank accounts of Pandey and transactions related to the financial irregularities.
Pandey’s counsel Ananda Ganguly contested the allegations and said his client was a mere student. “In the last production, CBI had claimed he was a part of the threat racket at the hospital and on Monday they claimed they have found illegal financial transactions made by him. The CBI is leveling baseless allegations,” said Ganguly.
Magistrate Sujit Kr Jha, hearing both sides, sent Pandey to CBI custody till Oct 11.
