Nitish Kumar on Monday transferred a total of Rs 1,650 crore to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries of four different schemes of rural development department during an event held at ‘Sankalp’ hall in his residence here. Altogether 2.89 lakh individual beneficiaries and 63,814 self-help groups (SHGs) were benefited on the day.
Highest Rs 537.33 crore were transferred to the bank accounts of 15,314 SHGs under Jeevika programme, followed by Rs 420 crore to 1.05 lakh beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin.
Similarly, under Sustainable Livelihood Scheme, a sum of Rs 113 crore was transferred to the bank accounts of 34,000 beneficiaries, and another Rs 400 crore was allocated as “community investment fund” to 48,500 self-help groups under Jeevika programme.
The CM also transferred a sum of Rs 180 crore to the bank accounts of altogether 1.5 lakh beneficiaries as incentives under Lohiya Swachh Bihar Abhiyan after completion of building toilets in their houses.
A rural development department official said another Rs 2,800 crore would be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries of their different schemes in the next 100 days.
Earlier on Saturday, the CM transferred a sum of Rs 307 crore to the bank accounts of 4.39 lakh families affected by the first phase of flood across 13 districts in the state.
The funds of Rs 7,000 per family were transferred via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system during an event held at the CM's official residence at 1, Aney Marg here. CM Kumar said that the remaining flood-affected families would receive their relief funds before Durga Puja, by October 9.
