Kolkata: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a woman and tricking her into investing Rs 60 lakh by promising her a lead role in a visual production. The incident was reported from Gobra Kabristan.
The complaint of sexual abuse and cheating — lodged with the Beniapukur police — has named 12 people, five of whom are men. The arrested duo has been identified as Dipen Naskar and Prasun Sinha.
The two are relatives, cops said. The accused have been taken into police custody after they were produced at the Sealdah court. According to cops, Sinha, a resident of Murshidabad, ran a fake business in Beniapukur.
Cops said the events began in Aug, when the woman came across an advertisement for auditions for a major production house and contacted the accused. She claimed the sexual abuse took place in Sept , with the accused touching her private parts in the presence of others at the home of one of the accused.
Police said there are a few grey areas they want answers to. “While she has said it took time for her to get over the shock before coming to us, she has said in her complaint the abuse took place when her family members were present in the vicinity. We are therefore ascertaining the exact chain of events and speaking to her family members. We are also ascertaining if the woman had undergone any medical test, which is crucial evidence in such cases. We are going to appeal in court to try and record the woman’s statement in court,” said an officer.
